"Jak 4" was a platforming game intended to be developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation 3. It was intended to be a soft reboot of the Jak and Daxter franchise with a more realistic art style. The only known evidence of the game's existence is a few concept art that Naughty Dog released.
Why it was Cancelled[]
- At the time Naughty Dog was busy working on Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception so half of the studio was split into a Team B to work on "Jak 4".
- The "Team B" themselves didn't feel confident that they could make a real Jak game that could follow up the original trilogy without the rest of Naughty Dog.
- Naughty Dog released some of the concept art showing the planned ultra realistic art style they were planning to use for the game. Fans hated the new art style shown.
- Naughty Dog decided that the direction they were going for with "Jak 4" would not sit well with fans nor the Team B working on it so they decided to instead make a new IP, The Last of Us.
Result[]
The game was never released.
