The Arcade Command Stick is an unreleased joystick peripheral that would have been released by Sega for their Master System console. It was advertised in 1988, with what is assumed to be concept art or a physical mock-up.
Why it was Cancelled[]
It is not known why the Arcade Command Stick was canceled. Presumably, it might be because of the Master System not doing too well in the face of Nintendo's dominance in the U.S. video game market at the time.
Features[]
It was set to be a high-end controller, a step above the Sega Control Stick in replicating the arcade-style control scheme in the comfort of the user's living room.
The layout of its controls are in a left-handed configuration, unlike the Sega Control Stick's right-handed control arrangement.
Directional Controls[]
The Arcade Command Stick has an eight-directional joystick, with a squarish knob similar to that of the Sega Control Stick.
Turbo-fire[]
The controller features a set of turbo-fire switches, one for each action button.
Action Buttons[]
The Arcade Command Stick features two action buttons on what appears to be a base that can be rotated to change the positioning of the buttons, similar to the Dempa XE-1 Pro joystick.
